Two national rankings, one shared moment of pride for everyone who has been part of CMR University’s journey.
CMR University, Bengaluru has been recognised by India Today magazine in its August 2026 issue, securing two remarkable positions on a national scale. The university has been ranked 9th in India under the Most Improved General University category and 43rd in India under the India’s Best Universities category.
A closer look at the India Today ranking methodology adds useful context to what these numbers mean. The survey evaluates universities across five broad parameters: reputation and governance, academic and research excellence, infrastructure and living experience, personality and leadership development, and career progression and placement, combining objective data with a perception survey of vice-chancellors, deans and senior faculty across the country. Among these, CMR University’s strongest showing came in career progression and placement, where it scored 129.6 out of a possible 217, its highest performance across all five categories. It is a result that reinforces what the university has been building toward directly: a placement ecosystem now backed by more than 200 recruiters and consistent industry engagement through initiatives like the CEO Conclave and sector-specific hiring drives.
What the rankings reflect
Recognition like this rarely comes from a single effort. It reflects years of consistent work across academics, research, innovation and student development, the same values CMR University has built its identity around since its founding. The university has always been guided by the belief that every person can achieve their potential if given access to a well-rounded education, one that shapes not just trained professionals but inspired individuals genuinely invested in progress. These rankings are simply that belief showing up in a national conversation.
A moment to share
Recognition like this belongs to everyone who has contributed to it. Congratulations to the Management, faculty, staff, students, alumni and every stakeholder who has been part of building CMR University into what it is today. Moments like these are rarely the result of just one department or a single decision. They are proof that the direction the university has been moving in for years is the right one.
