Scope & Objectives

Artificial Intelligence and Data Science have had an active and exciting history and are now established fields within computer science. Many research breakthroughs in these areas have reached the stage of industrial application, enabling companies to generate and save millions of dollars by leveraging the outcomes of Data Science research (as noted in the McKinsey Global Institute report on AI).

To equip students with the right skill set for emerging job opportunities in Data Science—and to support industries in adopting technology-driven solutions—CMR University offers a wide range of new-age IT programmes, with Data Science being a key focus.

Programme Assessment

  • Choice-Based Credit System (CBCS): The university follows CBCS, allowing students to choose courses and earn credits based on performance.
  • Grades and GPA: Students are awarded grades per course; SGPA and CGPA are calculated to track academic progress.
  • Prescribed Curriculum: Includes courses, labs, and degree requirements along with SWAYAM and MOOCs from reputed institutions.
  • Auditing Courses: Optional audit courses allow students to gain extra exposure without a grade, improving placement preparedness.
  • Evaluation System: Continuous Internal Evaluation (CIE) and Semester-End Examination (SEE) each carry 50% weightage.
  • Assessment Methods: Include assignments, seminars, quizzes, group discussions, presentations, and industry reports.
  • Semester-End Exams: Conducted for all registered courses, with some exceptions for CIE-only courses.
  • Makeup Examinations: Offered to students who fail SEE, providing a chance to improve grades.
