The School of Engineering and Technology (SOET) at CMR University was established in 2016 and offers a comprehensive range of engineering programmes across undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels. The school began with core disciplines such as Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Information Technology and Electronics and Communication Engineering. Over the years, it has expanded to include specialised pathways in CSE (AI and ML), CSE (Data Science), Computer Science and Technology and Computer Engineering.
SOET’s programmes are built on an industry-aligned curriculum supported by hands-on learning, collaborative projects and expert faculty guidance. The school emphasises professional skills, interaction with industry leaders and exposure to relevant tools and technologies to prepare students for the evolving world of work.
Every aspect of the academic experience is designed to ensure that students develop strong technical competencies, practical problem-solving abilities and a mindset geared towards innovation. Through high-quality academic programmes and experiential learning, SOET equips students to become industry-ready professionals capable of contributing meaningfully to their chosen fields.
To educate students who will advance society through continuous innovation in science, technology, and research.

Graduates from SOET will demonstrate the ability to apply engineering principles with a strong theoretical foundation; design systems and processes within real-world constraints; work effectively within multidisciplinary teams; and make ethical, sustainable, and socially conscious decisions. The curriculum also fosters logical thinking, problem-solving, and a deep understanding of emerging technologies.
The School of Engineering and Technology creates opportunities for students to collaborate productively with clients and team members to specify, analyse, design, test and document software that meets customer requirements. The curriculum enables students to design algorithms, develop AI applications, work with large datasets to derive meaningful insights, and create mobile applications. Students are also encouraged to explore entrepreneurship by developing niche software solutions or launching tech-based start-ups. Additionally, the programme prepares students to design, implement and manage telecommunications networks, including mobile networks, satellite communication systems and internet infrastructure.
To support innovation and hands-on learning, the school provides access to the Makerspace and Innovation Lab, enabling students to develop creative thinking skills and complete prototype projects.
Access to training in Big Data, Cloud Technologies, and Business Analytics
Employability-focused assessments and certifications
Advanced training in innovation and product design
Modules on CSR, Sustainability, and Ethics
Research partnerships, internships, and student exchange programmes
At the School of Engineering and Technology (SOET), career readiness is built into the academic journey from the first year itself. Students are guided through a structured mentorship framework where faculty mentors support academic planning, technical skill development, and long-term career direction. This continuous guidance helps students make informed choices, whether they aim for industry roles, higher studies, research, or entrepreneurship.
For undergraduate students, the focus lies in building powerful engineering fundamentals alongside practical exposure through laboratories, maker spaces, internships, and project-based learning. Regular technical workshops, industry talks, and skill-bridging sessions ensure students stay aligned with evolving technology trends and workplace expectations.
Postgraduate students engage in deeper domain specialisation through advanced coursework, research-driven projects, and industry-linked problem statements. Mentorship at this level supports career acceleration—preparing students for specialised roles, leadership positions, or research-oriented pathways.
For doctoral scholars, mentorship is research-intensive and outcome-driven. Faculty supervisors guide scholars through publications, funded research, interdisciplinary collaboration, and academic or industry research careers.
Across all levels, SOET strengthens employability through internships, live projects, placement training, resume-building workshops, mock interviews, and continuous interaction with recruiters and industry experts. This integrated approach ensures that students graduate not only as technically competent engineers, but as confident professionals ready to adapt, innovate, and meaningfully contribute in competitive engineering environments.
